Biography

Linda Kaye Henning was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 16. Show business is in her blood; her mother, the former Ruth Barth, is an ex-radio actress whose credits included the "Road of Life" and "Don Winslow of the Navy" series. Her father is Paul Henning, creator-writer-producer of "The Beverly Hillbillies" and creator-producer of "Petticoat Junction".

During her early teens Miss Henning was dedicated to the ballet. She appeared with the San Fernando (Calif.) Civic Ballet for three years and the Bart Prival Youth Ballet troupe for five years.

Deciding to expand her professional activities to drama, she began performing at the North Hollywood Playhouse, appearing in "Roomful of Roses", "The Reluctant Dragon", "Rebel Without a Cause", "Bus Stop" and "Gidget". This was followed by her first movie work - two song-and-dance numbers in "Bye Bye Birdie" [see photo] for Paramount Pictures.

Versatile, vivacious Miss Henning has appeared in guest roles in a number of television programs, including "Dobie Gillis", "Mr. Ed", "Green Acres", "The Ed Sullivan Show", "The Mike Douglas Show", the "Tonight Show", "The Steve Allen Show", "The Donald O'Connor Show" and many others.

Musicals in which she has appeared include "Carousel", in Salt Lake City, "High Button Shoes", "Brigadoon", "Best Foot Forward" and "The Sound of Music".

During the 1967-68 season of "Petticoat Junction", Betty Jo Bradley (Miss Henning) and Steve Elliott (Mike Minor) courted and eventually were married. About a year later, on Sept. 7, 1968 in real life, Minor and Miss Henning were married. [click here for photos of both weddings]

[Editor's note - Mike and Linda were divorced after five years - they had no children. She has been married to Leon Adams since 1994]

Miss Henning is 5'3", 103 lbs.; red hair, brown eyes. She attended North Hollywood High School and San Fernando Valley State College. She has a brother, Tony, and a sister, Carol. The Minors live in a small home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and look forward to the day when they will appear in a play together.
